Let's build a solid Foundation.

Join a community of bakers stretching back generations and understand the WHY so we can adjust the how - skills that last lifetimes.

Twelve years ago I baked my first sourdough in a North Dakota kitchen, and I've been chasing (and catching) better bread ever since. Now I teach what I've learned - not the fussy version, the real version.

In Foundational Sourdough you'll learn to read your dough, feed your starter, and bake a loaf you'd be proud to give away. You'll leave with your hands floury, your questions answered, and everything you need to keep going at home.

A few things I tell every student:
  • Pick ONE recipe and master it.
  • When in doubt, bake it anyway.
  • If it isn't moldy, it isn't dead.

Classes are small, hands-on, and held in the kitchen at Shades of Lavender Farm.
